History

In order to create stronger links with maritime regions worldwide, the Antwerp Port Authority opted to develop activities beyond Europe. This endeavour is the mission of Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (founded as a full subsidiary in 2010).

As an international centre of port excellence, Port of Antwerp-Bruges International is the go-to for companies, ports and governmental institutes who seek effective consultancy, advice and management solutions for their port and terminal related projects.
Port of Antwerp International advises the international port sector on its expansion projects, renovation plans and in designing and developing greenfield projects.

Our overseas partners not only benefit from the expertise and profound knowledge accumulated within Port of Antwerp-Bruges, but also from the Antwerp Port Community with its 200 years of experience.

The expertise of the POABI team is complemented by the competent staff of the Antwerp Port Authority on an as-needed basis. Within the staff of the Antwerp Port Authority (over 1,600 people) all specialties and skills are available: infrastructure, environment, policy development, legal, commercial, marketing and communication etc. Apart from these experts, POABI has an extended network in the Antwerp Port Community and in the academic world.

In cooperation with our affiliate APEC – Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center, POABI offers port and terminal related training.

APEC offers an annual program of port courses for top and middle management. In addition, APEC organizes courses on site, tailored to the specific training needs of the client, both white and blue collar.
